Samsung Galaxy A18 4G, Affordable Phone with AMOLED and Long Update Support

Samsung Galaxy A18 4G

Samsung is once again updating its Galaxy A lineup with the Samsung Galaxy A18 4G. This smartphone is aimed at users who prioritize daily comfort over chasing high specifications.

The Galaxy A18 4G brings several quite interesting features for its class. Starting from a 90Hz Super AMOLED display, a 50 MP main camera, a 5,000 mAh battery, to long software update support.

Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy A18 4G in several European markets in September 2026. However, until now Samsung Indonesia has not officially announced the price or sales schedule in Indonesia.

Design Still Typical of Samsung Galaxy A Series

There are no overly extreme design changes on the Galaxy A18 4G. Samsung still maintains the simple style that has been the hallmark of the Galaxy A Series in recent years.

The back uses three vertically arranged cameras. Meanwhile, the front still uses a small notch to house the selfie camera.

The Galaxy A18 body has a thickness of about 7.7 mm, making it overall quite slim. Samsung provides three color options for the European market: Black, Gray, and Light Blue.

A design like this may not be something completely new, but it is quite safe for users who prefer a simple and unflashy smartphone look.

90Hz Super AMOLED Display

One of the most interesting parts of the Samsung Galaxy A18 4G is its display.

Samsung uses a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The screen also supports a refresh rate of up to 90Hz.

For daily activities such as reading social media, watching YouTube, browsing, or streaming movies, the combination of AMOLED and a 90Hz refresh rate is quite comfortable.

The AMOLED panel is also an added value because it is able to provide more vivid colors with deeper blacks compared to ordinary LCD panels.

Samsung has not yet brought a 120Hz refresh rate to this device, but 90Hz still feels much more comfortable than a standard 60Hz screen.

Powered by Exynos 1610 Chipset

The version of the Samsung Galaxy A18 4G introduced in Europe uses the Exynos 1610 chipset.

The processor has an octa-core configuration with speeds up to 2.4 GHz. Samsung positions this chipset for daily needs such as running communication apps, social media, streaming, browsing, and light multitasking.

Keep in mind that this Galaxy A18 is a 4G LTE smartphone, not 5G.

So, this device is more suitable for users who do not yet really need a 5G network and prioritize a complete set of basic features.

For the Indonesian market itself, the chipset configuration and memory variants should await the official announcement from Samsung Indonesia because specifications can vary between countries.

4 GB RAM and 128 GB Storage

The version of the Galaxy A18 4G announced by Samsung in France comes with a combination of 4 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage.

Samsung also provides the RAM Plus feature to help with multitasking by utilizing a portion of the internal storage as additional memory.

If the 128 GB capacity is still lacking, microSD support up to 2 TB is available. However, the slot used is hybrid, so users must choose between using a microSD card or a second SIM.

For normal use, the 128 GB capacity is actually quite spacious for storing applications, photos, videos, and various documents.

50 MP Main Camera

Samsung equips the Galaxy A18 4G with three rear cameras.

The setup consists of a 50 MP main camera, a 5 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. Meanwhile, the front camera has a resolution of 13 MP.

This configuration is quite flexible for daily documentation needs. The main camera can be used for regular photos, while the ultrawide is useful when you want to take photos with a wider field of view.

However, the main camera of the Galaxy A18 is not equipped with Optical Image Stabilization or OIS. Video recording is also still limited to Full HD at 30 fps.

Thus, the Galaxy A18 camera is more intended for simple needs rather than serious photography or videography.

5,000 mAh Battery with 25W Fast Charging

For power matters, the Galaxy A18 4G carries a 5,000 mAh battery.

This capacity has become the standard for many Android smartphones today and should be enough to accompany daily activities with normal usage.

The Galaxy A18 also supports 25W fast charging. Samsung states that the battery can be charged to about 50 percent in 30 minutes under appropriate charging conditions.

This speed is indeed not the highest in the Android smartphone class, but it is still quite practical for daily use.

Running Android 17 and One UI 9

One of the biggest appeals of the Galaxy A18 4G actually comes from the software side.

This smartphone comes running Android 17 with One UI 9. Samsung also promises up to six generations of operating system updates and six years of security updates.

Long software support like this is an added value, especially for users who do not change their smartphones very often.

The Galaxy A18 also gets several smart features such as Circle to Search with Google and Gemini integration. Users can search for information from objects appearing on the screen or use natural language commands to perform several activities on the smartphone.

In addition, the Galaxy A18 already has IP64 certification, giving the device protection against dust and water splashes.

Is the Samsung Galaxy A18 4G Appealing?

The Galaxy A18 4G is not a smartphone trying to offer extreme performance. Its focus is simpler: providing a comfortable usage experience that can be used for the long term.

The 90Hz Super AMOLED screen is one of its main advantages. A 50 MP main camera, 5,000 mAh battery, expandable storage, IP64 certification, and six years of update support also make the offered package feel quite complete.

On the other hand, there are some compromises such as a network that is still 4G, 4 GB base RAM, a camera without OIS, and charging that is still capped at 25W.

Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy A18 4G is suitable for users looking for a simple smartphone for communication, social media, browsing, streaming, and long-term daily use.

Samsung is not chasing massive specifications on this device. Instead, the Galaxy A18 relies on a comfortable AMOLED screen, a large battery, a 50 MP camera, the latest software, and long update support.

What still needs to be awaited is the official price and configuration of the Samsung Galaxy A18 4G for Indonesia. The pricing factor will later heavily determine how attractive this smartphone is compared to other devices in the same class.
