vivo officially introduced the vivo X500 in China on September 21, 2026. This model is the most affordable variant in the X500 Series family, but its specifications remain quite serious, especially in terms of the camera, battery, and video capabilities.
Interestingly, vivo did not cut back too much on the camera sector in the standard version. The X500 still carries a large main sensor, a periscope telephoto camera, and video support up to 4K 120fps.
Sony LYTIA 828 Main Camera
One of the most interesting parts of the vivo X500 is its camera.
The main camera uses a 1/1.28-inch 50 MP Sony LYTIA 828, a sensor previously used on the vivo X300 Pro. This large sensor is paired with a stabilization system up to the CIPA 5.5 standard.
To capture objects from a distance, there is a 64 MP Sony LYTIA 610 telephoto camera. vivo also provides support for the ZEISS Telephoto Extender accessory with a focal length equivalent to 200 mm.
In general, its rear camera configuration consists of:
- 50 MP Sony LYTIA 828 main camera
- 64 MP Sony LYTIA 610 telephoto
- 50 MP ultrawide camera
This configuration ensures that the X500 still offers a fairly complete photography experience despite being positioned below the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max.
4K 120fps Video
The vivo X500's video capabilities are also not just ordinary flagship standards.
This smartphone supports 4K slow motion up to 120fps, 4K 120fps 10-bit Log recording, and Cinematic Portrait Video up to 4K 60fps. The entire X500 series also supports the 8K Native Live feature.
For users who frequently create content with a smartphone, the Log feature is attractive because it provides more headroom when performing color grading after the video is recorded.
Admittedly, 4K 240fps capability remains an exclusive feature of the Pro models. However, the 4K 120fps on the X500 is more than enough for daily video needs to more serious content production.
Powered by Dimensity 9600M
For performance, the vivo X500 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M.
This chipset sits one tier below the Dimensity 9600 Pro used in the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. vivo also runs the X500 on OriginOS 7 for the Chinese version.
The lowest variant offers 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
With this class of chipset, the X500 is clearly not a smartphone that relies solely on its camera. Performance for multitasking, gaming, photo editing, and video processing is also an important part of the package offered.
6.59-Inch Display
The vivo X500 comes with a 6.59-inch display.
This size sits right in the middle between the more compact X500 Pro with a 6.36-inch screen and the X500 Pro Max which uses a large 6.85-inch screen.
The rear design retains the signature X Series look with a large circular camera module.
For color options, the X500 is available in several variants including Sunny White, Starry Gray, Dawn Pink, and Dusk Black for the Chinese market.
Massive 7,500 mAh Battery
Although not the largest model, the vivo X500 actually packs a quite large battery.
Its capacity reaches 7,500 mAh, complete with 90W fast charging and 40W wireless charging.
This capacity is one of the main advantages of the X500, especially for users who frequently use the camera, play games, or record video for long periods.
Wireless charging is also retained, ensuring that essential flagship-class features are not lost just because the X500 is the most basic model in this series.
vivo X500 Price
The vivo X500 became available for pre-order in China on September 21, 2026, while open sales begin on September 24, 2026.
The price for the 12 GB RAM + 256 GB variant starts from:
5,499 yuan
This price places the X500 below the X500 Pro which starts at 6,499 yuan and the X500 Pro Max starting at 6,999 yuan.
For now, vivo has not announced the official price or release schedule for the vivo X500 in Indonesia. The global launch is expected to follow the Chinese market, but target countries and timings have not been confirmed.
vivo X500 Remains Serious Despite Not Being a Pro Version
The vivo X500 makes for an appealing choice because many of its camera features are retained from the flagship class.
The Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor, 64 MP telephoto, 4K 120fps video, 7,500 mAh battery, 40W wireless charging, and Dimensity 9600M make its specifications feel far from a budget version in the X500 Series.
If the Vivo X500's specifications are still not enough, you can also consider the Vivo X500 Pro or look at its highest variant, the Vivo X500 Pro Max. The biggest differences from the Pro models lie in the chipset, a more advanced camera system, and 4K 240fps video capabilities. If those features are not strictly necessary, the X500 offers a more streamlined package without losing the core identity of vivo's flagship series.
