Xiaomi officially introduced the Xiaomi 18 Fold on September 7, 2026, in China. This latest foldable smartphone features a book-style design that is more compact when closed, but transforms into a large, tablet-like screen when opened. Xiaomi calls this concept medium-fold, with a size roughly like a passport when folded.
Powered by Xiaomi's Custom XRing O3 Chip
One of the most interesting aspects of the Xiaomi 18 Fold is the use of XRing O3, a flagship chipset developed by Xiaomi itself. This chip marks a major step for Xiaomi to reduce its reliance on chipsets from Qualcomm and MediaTek.
Xiaomi has also paired this chipset with a new generation of RAM and multitasking capabilities that allow users to open up to three applications side-by-side when the main screen is unfolded.
Large Display and 200 MP Camera
The Xiaomi 18 Fold features an outer display of about 5.38 inches and a main foldable display of 7.58 inches, with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The camera system is also one of its main attractions as Xiaomi continues its partnership with Leica.
The main camera has a 200 MP resolution, accompanied by a 50 MP telephoto and ultrawide camera. So, even though its main focus is a foldable design, its camera capabilities are still built like a high-end flagship smartphone.
Large Battery for a Foldable Phone
For power, Xiaomi equips the 18 Fold with a 6,000 mAh battery. This capacity is quite large for a foldable smartphone. Charging supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
It weighs around 219 grams, while its thickness when unfolded is only about 5.02 mm. This makes the Xiaomi 18 Fold quite appealing for users who want a large screen without carrying a device that is too heavy.
