Google has just introduced a new feature in Google AdSense, namely the "Share Full IP Address" feature in the ad auction section. This feature was just officially released by Google AdSense in early June 2026.
Simply put, this feature gives us as website owners the option to send visitors' IP addresses in full, no longer truncated like before, to ad networks such as Google Ads or Display & Video 360.
So, how profitable is it for us? Let's casually discuss the pros and cons.
What Are the Benefits for Us?
If this feature is enabled (unblock it in settings), there are several positive effects on ad performance and website revenue:
1. Potential Increase in Revenue (Higher eCPM/CPC)
For big advertisers, full IP data is very valuable. They are willing to pay more if they know exactly where their ads are shown. Because the data we provide is more complete, the price of ad slots on our website can increase, ultimately boosting our earnings.
2. Ads Become More Relevant (Accurate Location Targeting)
If our website visitors come from various cities or specific regions, this full IP is very helpful. Advertisers can then display ads that are exactly relevant to the visitor's city at that moment. If the ad is relevant, the chance of it being clicked (CTR) automatically increases.
3. More Secure from Bot Traffic (Invalid Traffic)
The most frustrating thing is when your AdSense account gets restricted due to click fraud or bot attacks. Well, by sharing the full IP, Google's system and advertisers can more easily detect and block fake clicks from bots in real-time. It's quite helpful to keep your account safe.
4. Ads Don't Get Boring Easily
Advertisers don't want to lose money by showing the same ad repeatedly to the same person. Full IP helps them manage ad frequency capping. As a result, the ads appearing on our website will be more varied and fresh in the eyes of visitors.
But, There Are Rules to Consider
Although tempting due to the revenue potential, there are several things from Google that need to be understood:
Initially Disabled (Blocked): Because Google is strict about privacy, this feature is set to blocked by default (IP truncated). So if you want to maximize earnings, you need to enable it manually.
The Button Logic is Reversed: This is a bit unique. Since the menu is in the Blocking Controls section, to activate this feature, we actually have to disable the toggle button. That means we disable the block.
Not All IPs Are Shared: Even if enabled, Google will automatically truncate IPs if the ads shown are non-personalized (Non-Personalized Ads), limited ads, or if the visitor comes from a country with very strict privacy regulations like GDPR in Europe.
How to Enable It (If You Want to Try)
If you're curious to test whether this feature can increase AdSense revenue or not, here's how to set it up:
Log in to your Google AdSense account.
Select the Brand safety menu.
Click Content, then select Blocking controls.
Click Manage Ad serving.
In the Personalized ads section, find the "Share full IP address" option.
Turn off the toggle (disable) to unblock and start sharing the full IP with advertisers.
Click Save.
Bottom line: This feature is quite beneficial if your main goal now is to increase ad revenue and tighten security against ghost traffic (bots), through more transparent data for advertisers.
